The luxurious five star Budapest Marriott Hotel was among the best 700 hotels in the world, according to Conde Nast Traveler Magazine in 2005. Go to the official website of Budapest Marriott Hotel to make your booking.
The hotel is between the historical Chain Bridge and the modern sleek Elisabeth Bridge, so you can easily take a walk through both bridges to the Buda side: if you are heading for the Castle District on the Castle Hill, walk over the Chain Bridge (Lanchid), and then take the historical Funicular railway to get to the top of the Castle hill in 10-15 minutes. If you wish to have a look at the Art Nouveau Gellert Spa Bath, the gentle greens of the Gellert Hill, and the Statue of Liberty on top of it, take Elisabeth Bridge instead.

On the Pest side, the neo-renaissance Parliament is also just a few steps away (it is well worth a visit, but booking is needed). Shopping? Vaci utca, a pedestrian-only shopping street is a few blocks behind the hotel, starting from Vorosmarty ter. The nearest metro station to the hotel (2 min walk) are the yellow line (on Vorosmarty square) or the blue line (Ferenciek tere). In addition, just keeping straight ahead on Vaci utca, you can take another pleasant walk to the Central Market Hall on Fovam ter to try some really tasty fruits, vegetables, salamis, and buy some Hungarian souvenirs (25-35 min). Budapest Ferihegy Airport is about 13 miles/ 21.5 km from the hotel.

The 362 rooms of the ten-floor Budapest Hotel Marriott have been newly refurbished in the framework of the Marriott Revive Bedding Concept. The rooms facing the River Danube offer breathtaking views of the panoramic Buda side featuring the Royal Palace on the Castle Hill, the Matthias Church, the Statue of Liberty, the residentail buildings of the Watertown district and the night lights playing on the waves of the river.
The hotel has no spa, instead it recommends the following nearby spa baths: Gellert Spa Baths, Rudas Spa Baths, Kiraly Spa Baths, Szechenyi Spa Baths. As for fitness, you can use cardiovascular equipment and free weights.

Virtual Tourist reviews about Budapest Marriott Hotel
"Every room in the Marriott has a small balcony that faces the Danube River. The view in the daytime is beautiful but at night, when everything is lit up, it is stunning. The river promenade is a good place for a stroll, and when you are tired, just hop on the tram that runs alongside the riverfront for a ride back. The double room has a king size bed, a sitting area with an armchair and an ottoman. The best feature in the bathroom is a digital scale, I guess Marriott thinks their guests should have the right to know their weight and cringe about it in private. Bath towels are large and fluffy and the usual amenities expected in a good hotel are all there. The fitness and health center in the hotel is open to guests as well as the public. The special winter rate is ロ95 for double room, which makes staying at the four-star Marriott Budapest the best offer in the city."
"The view of the Danube from every room is the best feature of the hotel, bar none."

TripAdvisor reviews about Budapest Marriott Hotel
"Location: Perfect. Very central. I had a Budapest Card but I did not use for transportation. I walked everywhere. I had a room on 8th floor with the view of the Castle. Very beautiful Room: It was newly renovated so everything was great and in working order. The flat screen was huge. Radio, web TV, and clock were all integrated into the TV. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Many pillows. Too many of them actually. Sheets were white (something I always look for). There were bathrobes and slippers. One thing I really liked was the fresh orchid in the room, a very nice touch. When I first got to the room, there were fresh grapes and plum were on the table waiting for me. Not an everyday sort of thing. It was nice nonetheless. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with all the toiletries, and complementary water. I found the bathroom to be very small for a hotel of this category. In addition, the drain on the sink was a bit slow. After one minute or so, it would be full and take a long time to drain. Did not like the lemongrass aromatherapy too much. Just a preference. Service: It was a mixed bag in this area. When I checked in, a trainee could not able to find my room. But that is ok as he was still in training. It took a bit longer than needed be. In general, the check in/front desk was very nice, gracious, and friendly. They all speak English well. Because the lobby was still under renovation, the check-in area was very small and at times, it can feel very claustrophobic. At various time, I saw that it could have taken a while (for others) to check in or get to ask the concierge questions. The door-men and other folks (around the lobby area) were something else different altogether. They do not really greet or say メhello.モ Even when they were in front of me and I made eye contact, they just went about their ways. I do not expect "good morning sir" or such. It is not the Four Seasons or the Ritz. A "hello" would be nice. Recommendation: Definitely for its location and the view. The prices are not so bad either. I believe that the renovation should be done soon. Therefore, some of the slight inconveniences I experienced should not be there in the future. Even though Hungary is part of EU, there are still some annoyances and inconveniences, especially scams involving outrageous prices of drinks at various places. Check out the link below. Donユt let this happens to you."

"Marriott Budpest is undergoing a major reconstruction so while there is noise during the day, the new rooms are brand new and beautifully decorated. The views are great and the hotel is very centrally located. We never took the subway while we were there. The Chain Bridge, Castle District, Parliament, and shopping areas are all accessible by foot with a 10-20 minute of walking. The construction noise did bother me a bit in the afternoon on days that I got back to the hotel early. The onsite restaurant Peppers is extremely overpriced ($30-40 USD) for a breakfast buffet so make sure to explore the surrounding areas for food since prices are much cheaper outside of the hotel."

"The hotel, which sits on the Pest side of the Danube, provides amazing views from the large almost floor to ceiling window in your room. Our view on the 7th floor was of the Erzsebet Bridge and Gellert Hill. At night, both were lit up amazingly. The hotel is situated within walking distance of most sights and the subway is right around the corner. The room itself, was recently renovated and has a modern updated look. The common areas.....not so much. But with construction full speed ahead from 7:30am to 6pm (if you're out and about all day, this won't effect you) all should be completed very soon."

"The Budapest Marriott is a great hotel, centrally located on the beautiful Danube River. The views from our room were very nice, especially at night. The only downside was the construction noise that started about 8 in the morning and finished around 6pm. We were up and out early so the noise didn't affect us that much, but it was slightly annoying. The rooms are nicely decorated, beds very comfy and all the usual bath amenities-shampoo, conditioner, lotion. We didn't eat in the restaurant as we found Budapest to have a large selection of good restaruants. We did take the River cruise one evening. It is located directly across the street from the hotel. It's only a 90 minute cruise, and kind of touristy but fun anyway. It includes 2 free drinks, headphone music and commentary. Overall, we'd stay here again. Staff was pleasant and once they finish the construction project it should be a popular hotel!"
"I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks on business, and would not rate the hotel at 4 stars as claimed. The building continues to undergo upgrading - which starts at 7.30am. While the rooms are generally well appointed, the air conditioning (mentioned by others) still does not function properly. The rooms are quite warm and the thermostat appears to have no adjustment. The restaurant is VERY expensive, as are the laundry and internet charges. Staff are generally helpful and courteous. Handy to other facilities along the Danube. Next trip would look at alternative hotel."

"Spent four nights here at the end of October beginning of November and had a wonderfully relaxing time. As previously mentioned the Marriot is a particularly ugly building from the outside but is extremely comfortable and clean inside. The refurbishments continue and the drilling/banging/crashing starts at 7.40 not 8am as mentioned by a previous reviewer. This didn't detract from our enjoyment though as we were up early anyway. However, i do think the new swirly red carpet in the hallways is hideous and reminds me of the decor in my parent's home circa 1972! Also, I don't want to be known as the reviewer who always complains about funny smells but there was a definite drain smell on the 3rd floor which abated before we reached our room fortunately and some of the windows on the city side of the corridor were smashed. All the rooms have an amazing view of the Danube and the Pest side of the city. Budapest seemed to be winding down a bit for the winter and many places were closing or reducing their facilities. Finding a place for breakfast was difficult as restaurants/cafes didn't open till after 10am or didn't open at all. Anna's cafe was good for a basic breakfast and good coffee but it was pricey. The breakfast in the hotel was adequate but expensive for what it was. Evening meals were excellent. We ate well during our time there. "Rustico" on the main shopping street was good value and enormous protions. Trattoria Pomodoro was good as well and the staff were friendly and good humoured. The Replay cafe had excellent goulash and the local beer is very good. Lots of sights to see and plenty of walking around the city. ... The hotel bar "Aqua" is a pleasant place to spend an evening and there are plenty of fascinating people- watching opportunities available. The bar staff are friendly and helpful. I would love to return to Budapest when it is a little busier but I'd recommend the hotel for its location and amenities."
"We stayed at Marriott for one night (10/8). As most people mentioned, it is under going renovations. That said, it was noisy at all. It has probably the most ugly look from the outside, but inside, the room has just been updated and is great! The location is also great. We booked the hotel via priceline and got a great price for this 4 star hotel."

"It's all in the title and the previous reviews I suppose. Nothing can beat the view at this fantastically ugly on the outside wonderful on the inside hotel. Now that the renovation is nearly over it is pretty safe to go back there and enjoy your stay in Budapest. I was there on the 20th of August (Hungary national day) and my room over Castle hill was offering a nice view over the fireworks on that side. All what was taking place over Gellert was unfortunately obstructed by the hotel wing. I would then recommend a corner room if you come and stay for this occasion. Or better a dinner on the terrace of the restaurant but it was unfortunately still closed for renovation at the time. As we were a bit tight with time on our last day we decided to order 'In-room' breakfast but had to wait nearly 50 minutes for delivery. I was about to cancel the order but was offered the treat instead as it is part of the hotel policy. Without that gesture it would have been the only bad remark about the hotel."
"Extremely happy with the stay. The hotel is being renovated (est. Jan 2008), it won't really bother you unless you're a late sleeper in which case you should request a room higher up (we did). They had complimentary bottled water, iced tea, and sparkling wine in the lobby to compensate for the renovation. The Hotel breakfast is overpriced so don't bother unless it's included in your rate. 5300 HUF (about 21 EUR) for a buffet breakfast? I didn't try the hotel Internet. Lots of good restaurants around the hotel, eat out. Preorder your airport taxis at a fixed rate, the hotel has a racket with the ones waiting outside the lobby (more than twice as expensive to the airport). The views of the river from this Hotel are amazing. Stay here, you won't be disappointed!"
"The hotel is in the perfect location - we could walk everywhere. It's near all the sights, dozens of great restaurants, and is convenient to two of the bridges and the subway and suburban train systems. The refurbished rooms are nice, with wonderful beds, plenty of closet space, modern bathrooms, a great A/C system, and amazing views! The staff is very competent and can give great suggestions. The Executive Room includes free internet, a fairly large continental breakfast buffet, and unlimited juices, waters, and soft drinks. All floors have free English-language newspapers. We never noticed any of the construction. The only negative was the hotel gym. It was small and the machine very old, but I wasn't expecting much."

"The hotel was well located on the banks of the Danube and a short walk from the sights and shopping/restaurant areas. The room was reasonably large and very comfortable and the beds were the best we came across on our trip. The staff were friendly and helpful and not aggressive in seeking tips compared to other Marriotts we stayed in on our trip. An excellent hotel in the best location in Budapest."
"Stayed here for three days in May 2007. Although there was construction in the hotel, we heard no noise at all while staying on the 2nd floor. We had to move rooms during our stay due to a power issue, but they moved us quickly and compensated us by giving us free access to the executive lounge. The hotel front desk staff are extremely helpful. Views from the rooms were the best I've ever had in any hotel. It is in the heart of the City with easy access to everything. Would stay here again in a heartbeat."
"We just returned from a very pleasant three night stay here! It is certainly true that the hotel is ugly from the outside, but inside it is very lovely and the room we stayed was renovated very nicely! We had a large flat screen TV and the room was a good size, the bathroom was good as well. The staff was helpful and courteous and the business center was excellent, as I needed to use the internet daily. As has been mentioned all the rooms have wonderful views of the Danube looking at the Buda Hills, it is just a great view to go to sleep and wake up with. The location is perfect, really. Within walking distance to just about everything, actually except for the ride to and from the airport and the funicular up the Buda hill we didn't use public transport at all the whole time. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone that wants the best view, a fantastic location and a very comfortable room!!! Oh and PS the cinnamon walnut pancakes are awesome!"

"I stayed at the Marriott Budapest Hotel while in Budapest on business. The hotel sits on the Pest side of the Danube and my room had an incredible view across the Danube with views of Buda and the Palace and Castle. The hotel is also within a 10 minute walk of the local shopping "Flea Market" where you can buy anything from locally made table cloths to paprika to fresh fruit. The hotel has high-speed internet, but you will need your own wireless card or you can get one at the business center in the lobby."
"This is overall a fantastic hotel in the heart of Budapest. Our room was a renovated room without a balcony (only rooms in the west wing have balconies), but it did have a Danube view (as do all rooms in the hotel). The new decor is bright and welcoming. The room was above-average in size by European standards but average-to-slightly below average by American standards. Regardless, it comfortably fit 2 double beds, a sitting chair and small coffee table, a desk, and an armoire. The beds are Marriott's new ones, and they are great: lots of pillows and a feather bed! The TV is a large, flat-panel TV with a range of channels, but only a few in English (CNN, BBC, HBO). The bathroom is also on the small size. Surprisingly for a renovated room the sink was white with a plastic look to it. I would have expected wood/marble after the renovations. There is not much counter space, but that's a function of the small size of the bathroom. Daily cleaning was thorough. The only quirk was towels that we left on the floor to be changed were instead just hung back up; I got new ones from the house cleaner's cart. A room service breakfast arrived within the promised 20 minutes. Staff at the front desk were always helpful, and I was especially happy that our room was available when we checked in at 10 am after an overnight flight. This may have been possible because we arrived on a Sunday; the hotel seemed much busier during the week. We also used the hotel's airport pick-up service. Yes, it's pricey at 7500 HUF, but after the flight it was nice having someone waiting holding up a board with my name! The hotel's location can't be beat. It's a few minutes walk to the main shopping street and a metro stop, and a lot of the main attractions are not that much further to walk. The hotel notes that it is undergoing complete renovations through the end of the year, and upon check-in we were told construction would start at 7 am, with noise at 9 am. Other than some drilling around 4 pm on one of 3 days I heard no noise. The room renovations seem to be going by wing; the north wing of my floor was initially closed off but later opened up to reveal new carpeting that was in place but not yet attached - they were working on this late one night. The day we checked out work in the lobby began, and this was noisy on that level."

"Looks can be very deceiving. From the outside, the hotel looks like one large cement block and very run down. However, the inside is very nice and has the same interior as other Marriott hotels I have stayed in around Europe. The hotel is currently being renovated and fortunately the construction did not disturb us during our stay. The rooms were standard, beds comfortable and a great view of the Chain Bridge with a balcony. I believe every room had a balcony which was a plus. The breakfast was very good, with many choices and freshly made omelets. The hotel itself was in a great location, within walking distances to several of the major sites and if not, it was close to the metro/trams. Overall it was a great experience and well worth the money."
"I stayed at the Marriot for 3 days while on a month long trip around europe. From the outside, the building looks like an old communist cement structure. There is nothing appealing about the hotel's exterior. However, once you enter it's a different story. Although this is not the nicest Marriot I've been to in Europe, it is definitely above average and quite comfortable. The rooms were small relative to American hotel rooms, but larger than most European rooms I have seen. The rooms were clean, had the nice bedding(down comforters, pillows etc) as other Marriots. We found the wireless internet convenient and used it daily. There was a daily charge for internet use, however this is quite common. The best part of this hotel is the view and location! My room had a balcony that overlooked the river. It was gorgeous!! In addition, the location is perfect. Within walking distance of popular shopping and dining areas. Overall, I was satisfied with this Marriot. It was totally luxurious or anything, but definitely well above average. I would recommend to anyone who values location, a view and consistently good service."
"We stayed at the Marriott for four nights in December 2006. It is not a pretty hotel from the outside but is stunning inside and the beds have to be the most comfortable I have slept in! The staff are great - friendly and helpful. The views over the river are stunning. We would recommend this hotel to others."

"The Budapest Marriott occupies an ideal site in Central Budapest. Located on the banks of the Danube, every room offers a guaranteed view of the river, the imposing Chain Bridge and the spectacular Castle Hill. It's simply a must for the first time visitor to Budapest. The Vorosmarty Ter, (Red Square), is just 150 metres away and is home to the world famous Gerbeaud coffee house and bistro. The square is located at the upper end of the pedestrianised shopping street, the Vaci Utca. The city's cathedral, St. Stephen's Basilica is close by as is the Andrassy Utca, where the Opera House is to be found. The Marriott is everything one would expect from a 5 star hotel. Don't be discouraged by the hideously ugly exterior, the building was erected in the communist era, but the interior is warm and welcoming, from the prefessional staff to the reasonably sized and very comfortable guest rooms. Afternoon tea in the lobby area is a must after a day's shopping or sightseeing, it's very reasonably priced and ambiance is only enhanced by the piano player in the corner. All in all an excellent hotel in a excellent location at a very reasonale price. I am a travel agent and have sent dozens of my clients to the Marriott since my stay, all of whom hwve been very impressed. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. For that extra special break, go during the Christmas markets in December."
"Although visiting the Marriott will not give you an 'authentic' Hungarian experience, it is worth it for the comfort, central location and views from the balconies. The choice of foods for breakfast is vast, staff are friendly and helpful and the bar is comfortable and well-stocked. There are dozens of restaurants, bars and shops very nearby. You can take in the sights of Budapest, go shopping, eat and drink yourself silly and then retire to your room to marvel at the view of the river. Totally recommended!"

"I stayed at the Marriott Budapest for a week in September 2006 and thought the location was amazing! Right on the Danube, very central to almost everything in Budapest and the view was supreme! Killer views of the river all day then sparkling nighttime views and illuminated Castle Hill views that were awesome! While the hotel looks a little dated on the outside, the inside is very nice and homey with very spacious rooms with balconies. It seems like this would be a good business hotel although I was there for vacation -- given that it is so central and had lots of services for business travelers. Staff was very helpful and again amenities were excellent. Beds were comfy with large comforters and were actual queen beds, instead of the 2 twins put together to make a queen that is popular in Eastern Europe. Had room sevice one night and watched the city go by on the river from the balcony with our meal -- what a treat!"
"Just returned from a 3 night stay. Hotel currently has one wing closed as part of the renovations that are due to last until sometime next year. Thy've done a great job of segregarting the work being done - no mess in the public spaces and no noise until after 9am. It is true that the scaffolding outside the closed wing couldn't make the hotel look any uglier on the outside - and there are a lot if prettier to look at top-end hotels in the area, but as my wife commented as we walked the grubby, narrow street behind the Inter Continental, "Would you prefer a hotel that looks this good if it meant that you ended up with a view like this?" We were only on the 2nd floor at the Marriott (despite having requested a high floor - but then they did let us check in at 10am after an overnight train journey from Munich), but our view across the Danube was amazing. I can only imagine what the higher room's views were like. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Oh, and reference the last review - the buffet breakfast is in fact almost 30 bucks, and there are lots of small bakery/cafes (and McDonalds if you must) within a 2-3 minute walk."

Expedia reviews about Budapest Marriott Hotel
"Great hotel, up to usual Marriot standards. Must try to buy one of those beds for home use! Peppers restaurant has some of the best food in town, and great service levels."
"The location, right on the Danube is brilliant with an awsome view (if you get a riverside room). Within a few minutes walk of the city centre and providing easy access to most of the main sights. The room decor maybe a little dated for some tastes but still of a high standard and comfortable. Even though there is no pool, the gym facilities are good. Staff are friendly and very efficient."
